James Batley is a Distinguished Policy Fellow in the Department of Pacific Affairs in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.

Mr Batley’s research interests include the Pacific Islands (esp Melanesia) – politics, governance, development, regional and international relations; Australia’s relations with the Pacific; Solomon Islands – politics, governance, development, peace and conflict; and Vanuatu – politics, governance, development.

Prior to joining ANU, Mr Batley had a long career in government.
