Dr Katrina Roper is an epidemiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the ANU National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health.
Dr Roper has worked for the World Health Organization (WHO) in public health laboratory strengthening and outbreak response, including deploying to Sierra Leone for the 2014-2016 Ebola Viral Disease outbreak where she set up the infection prevention and control training for health care workers and also conducted active case finding in the community.
In the course of her career, Dr Roper has also worked for the Department of Health, Food Standards Australia New Zealand, the Therapeutic Goods Administration, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Dr Roper lived in France for five years when employed as a technical officer for WHO, and in the course of her employment worked in multiple countries across the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia and the Pacific, providing support for public health capacity building activities and implementation of the requirements of the International Health Regulations.
