Mathew Trinca AM FAHA is Professor of Museum Practice at The Australian National University.

Dr Trinca is a Commissioner for Culture and Olympic Heritage for the International Olympic Committee, and an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities. He is also the Chair of Blue Shield Australia, which is devoted to heritage preservation, and sits on several arts and cultural sector boards and advisory bodies. In 2020, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his service to museums.

He was formerly Director of the National Museum of Australia between 2014 to 2024, and worked in senior roles in the museum from 2003. Before that, he was the manager of the MuseumLink program at the Western Australian Museum, and worked as a history and heritage consultant. As Director of the NMA, he was responsible for doubling its visitor numbers and developing its galleries and exhibitions, with a strong emphasis on touring programs across Australia and around the world.
