Dr Ross Tapsell is a senior lecturer and researcher at the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific and Director of the ANU Malaysia Institute.

Dr Tapsell specialises in Southeast Asian media, politics and culture. He researches and teaches on Indonesian and Malaysian societies, Australia-Asia relations, and digital cultures including disinformation.

His current research focuses on the changing information societies of the Southeast Asian region, and the role of disinformation and social media campaigning on the democratic process.

He has written for The New York Times, The Guardian, VICE and other publications in the Southeast Asian region.
